Today's Iftar, Sehri and Prayer times in Opelousas are :
Time of Sehri 5:22 AM,
Time of Iftar 5:11 PM
Time of Fajar 5:32 AM,
Time of Dhuhur Prayer 11:55 AM,
Time of Asr Prayer 2:48 PM,
Time of Maghrib Prayer 5:11 PM and
Time of Isha Prayer 6:18 PM.
The time for Sehri in Opelousas begins from midnight until the break of dawn. It is recommended, however, to delay it until shortly before the Fajr (morning) prayer.
Sehri can be achieved with a large meal, a small meal, or even by a sip of water or soup. In a report by Abu Sa'eed Al-Khudri (raa) the Messenger of Allah (saas) said, "Sehri is a blessed meal, do not neglect it even if it is a mouthful of drink. For Allah and the Angels bless those who observe it." (Ahmed)
In a hadith by Zaid bin Thabit (raa) he related that: "We ate Sehri with the Messenger of Allah (saas) then we went to pray Subh".
I asked the Messenger `What was the time period between Sehri and prayer?' He responded `The time period between them is the equivalent of the time it takes to recite fifty verses in Al-Qur'an.'" (Bukhari and Muslim)
Iftar is the evening meal with which we end fast at sunset. We break our fast at the time of azan for the maghrib prayer. The time for Iftar in Opelousas begins from sunset, the time of maghrib prayer
Iftar is the partaking of a combination of spiritual and physical food.
Iftar is like dinner, but it is a dinner combined with a spiritual experience. It is like a compulsory form of training. When one experiences hunger in the daytime, one discovers the importance of food and water which give us energy. Indeed, one discovers the fact that one cannot live without food and water. And, after this experience, when a person takes food and water in the evening, he is filled with gratitude to God Almighty, who not only created him but also provided him with all the basic needs, essential for his continuing existence.
